It was created in 2003 in the London borough of Greenwich, was launched in 2014 at the Royal Greenwich heritage trust as long as the centres closure in July 2018. The Museum was founded in a historic building on Artillery square, in the complex of the Royal Arsenal, which was created in the 17th century as the storage and manufacture of heavy guns, ammunition and other military products.

1. The history of the building. (История здания)

The Greenwich heritage Centre in the Western and southern parts of the quadrangle of buildings known as new laboratory space or building 41, a former warehouse designed by James Wyatt, starting from 1783-85. The warehouse was built on Board ammunition as a "marine store" storage for the supply of naval ammunition. Additional warehouses were added in the form of the Northern and Eastern sides of the square in 1808-10. By 1860, the entire complex was captured by the Royal laboratory Department and converted into a factory to make the boxes and barrels for storage and transportation of ammunition, gunpowder, cartridges, fuses and other elements, the West range contained the woodshed, in the East the choice was a sawmill with a barrel over it, the North range contains a steam engine, which powered the machines on the line shafts.

The entrance of the shopping centres in the South wing of the quadrangle, a former carpenters workshop 1877-78, where crates and barrels were machine assembled. By the time of the First world war this place was given over to the manufacture of small arms ammunition. At the end of the war many women were at work here. In the years before the closure of the Arsenal in 1994, most of the buildings used as customs and excise stores.

2. The history of the Museum and closing. (История музея и закрытия)

Greenwich Heritage center was established in October 2003, combining the collections of the Museum of the borough of Greenwich local history library, formerly in the house u Lesa in westcombe Park. The creation Museum in this area was dictated by the councils desire to support the rebuilding of the Royal Arsenal and make it a desirable place for living and recreation. It was held in 2001 during the Royal artillery Museum from its historic place in the rotunda in an abandoned building in the Arsenal, where he took the firepower and name – the Royal artillery Museum.

Was a new laboratory area restored English partnerships and the London development Agency from 1999 to 2002, after the plans of llewyn Davis architects. Originally the Museum only used the West the choice of the house, separating the southern range firepower. The rest of the building was used as storage firepower to its closure in 2016.

In a new charity 2014, Royal Greenwich heritage is true, was formed to manage the Museum and archives, as well as Charlton house, Tudor barn in eltham and some other heritage assets in the area. To properly support the friends of the Royal Greenwich heritage trust.

In 2017, it was announced that the borough plans to create a £31 million creative district around the river end of the street No. 1. This plan includes a 1200-seat hall for concerts and events in the building 41.

It closed in July 2018, was described as suddenly and without consultation, with unclear plans for the future, though, said he plans to continue his studies.

3. Exhibition. (Выставка)

Since opening the Museum has a permanent exhibition named Arsenal, which told the story of the Royal Arsenal and the nearby shipyard Valija. This exhibition, entitled Here come the girls, noted the role of women in wartime Woolwich, especially during the First world war.

In 2016, after the closure of the Museum firepower across the road, the second permanent exhibition making Woolwich: Royal regiment of artillery in Woulidge was created to fill the gap. This exhibition was in the South wing of the building marked the 300th anniversary of the Royal regiment of artillery in Wulijie in 1716. Although the main theme was the Royal artillery, some of the exhibits related to the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich 1741-1939.

In addition, the Museum usually had one or two temporary exhibitions a year. They usually focus on a specific area in the borough, a historical event or other topics of interest. Temporary Gallery, Berkeley was replaced by the exhibition making Woolwich.
