Library for the community of Burwell the purpose of the womens literary club, which was organized with 11 Charter members in 1907. Correspondence with Andrew Carnegie and Carnegie began to 1911, was the condition that Burwell should create a tax for the maintenance of the library, and the Board adopted a decree in January 1912. The project was supported by enthsiasticly at the Burwell tribune. After a delay of lost correspondence or misunderstanding in the library plans were approved and a grant for $ 5.000 for the construction was allowed.

The building is a single storey brick building with basement, designed strictly in accordance with the preferences of James Bertram, Carnegies Secretary that establish standards of design for the program of the Grant after the previous projects, it seemed, to spend money on jewelry. Decoration is achieved through the use of cherry-red brick used for the cornice and pseudo-cornices and pseudo-pilasters, contrasting with yellow-brown brick, which is a key element. This is about 50 by 27 feet 15.2 m × 8.2 m in plan and has 22 Windows. The building was built by J. T. Pryor in 1914.
