★ Theocratic Government

Theocratic Government is a form of Ecclesiastical polity that has been historically associated with the teachings of A.J. Tomlinson and Grady R. Kent. It was previously employed in Church of God and Church of God of Prophecy and now only remains in use with The Church of God and a few smaller organizations. It was designed to be patterned after the same form of government used in the Bible by Moses and Jesus. It consists of an Anointed Leader at the head, Twelve Apostles, Seven Business Overseers, and Seventy-Two Prophets, in addition to having various bishops, deacons and ministers serving under them.

1. History. (История)

In 1903 A. J. Tomlinson was appointed overseer of a group that would call themselves the Church of God. And dont just take a regular form of government used by other churches, he felt compelled to search the Scriptures in order to find the correct form of the government of the Church. After the Church of God movement began to spread, he was able to implement what he was learning, and in the period from 1914 to 1920, he built a Church on the model of what he would later term a theocratic state.

2. Structure. (Структура)

The structure of the government of the Church through the theocratic government autocratic in one or the other level of government remains with the Council of Apostles and elders. However, the structure does not flow from one anointed leader, after hearing the arguments, the Council reserves the right to make a decision and is the final authority on all matters of doctrine and practice in the Church.

2.1. Structure. The Anointed Leader. (Помазанный Лидер)

Anointed leader, who is often called the chief Bishop is the head of the Church and is the final authority in matters of Church policy and practice. It is considered as the epitome of a good Manager, who is expected to give the Church a regular dose of revelation or direction. Recognizing that the Bible says that "without vision the people perish" Proverbs 29:18, Is presiding bishops are obliged to ensure that vision for his people to follow. The basis for the anointed leader is based on the principle that Moses was anointed with the spirit of the gods to lead the Israelites, and later the anointing was transferred to Jesus, and continued throughout the history of the Bible. When Jesus came, he became the anointed leader of the Church called the Israel of the spirit. Bishop Tomlinson taught, as the Church of God Jerusalem acres continues to teach that James, not Peter - was the anointed leader of the first century Church after Christs ascension. He based this concept on the fact that at the end of the Jerusalem Council of acts Chapter 15, it was James who rendered the final verdict, noting that he did so only after hearing all the parties to the dispute of Peter, Paul, and others.

2.2. Structure. The Twelve Apostles. (Двенадцати Апостолов)

Under a theocratic government, he stated that according to Ephesians 4:11-13, would be the need for apostles in the Church until Christs return. It should be recognized that while there is a Ministerial gift of Apostle, as Paul and Timothy, it is also important to the early Church were the twelve apostles as part of the Church government. Thats why in the first Chapter of the Book of Acts, the first century Church replaced Judas Iscariot with Matthias after the former committed suicide. The use of twelve leaders also consistent with the fact that Moses, Joshua and many others, have appointed twelve leaders as representatives from each of the tribes of Israel. Thus, it is the doctrine agrees with the whole Bible.

2.3. Structure. The Seven Businessmen. (Семь Предпринимателей)

In the system, which was originally created by Tomlinson was at different times five or seven business administrators in the Church, and in what amounts in the end it was decided that seven in accordance with the number assigned in Chapter 6. These people are also considered the seven pillars of wisdom found in the house in Proverbs 9:1 and the heads of the business needs of the Church, each of which is said to embody the mission of one of the seven spirits of God. In the teachings brought Kent and Tomlinson, the seven spirits of God were identified individually with one of the letters to the seven churches in Asia.

2.4. Structure. The Seventy-Two Prophets. (Семьдесят Два Пророка)

In the theocratic government structure, used in Kent and earlier, Tomlinson was the recognition that the Bible says that Moses gathered seventy elders of the children of Israel should be Anointed with the Holy Spirit, and when that happened, there were two that were anointed in the camp numbers 11:24-26, and in a similar manner, Jesus appointed seventy-two prophets to go ahead of him in the towns he was preparing to enter Luke 10:1. Continuing this tradition, they continued to appoint the seventy-two elders or prophets in the hierarchy of their Church organizations.

2.5. Structure. Additional Ministries. (Дополнительные Министерств)

A theocratic government, as a rule, also includes the use of Ministers that are not part of the "pattern" of the government, in the form of bishops and deacons, along with local pastors and evangelists who may or may not occupy the highest ranks of the Ministry.
