Whitehall is a timber-framed house-Museum of the family in the centre of the village of Cheam, Sutton, greater London. It is believed to have been wattle and daub clerk peasants initially. It is a grade II* listed historical England list of national heritage.

1. Features. (Особенности)

The house contains items from the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian. Rooms include hall, living room thought when they were in the original kitchen, lower kitchen, porch, room, Roy Smith art gallery after wash room or pantry, a dressing room Harriet Killick and bedroom. One room has a display about Nonsuch Palace, built by the king Henry VIII and dismantled in 1680-ies. In the garden there is a medieval well which served an earlier building on the site.

2. History. (История)

Said it was once called the "Council House", through his use of Queen Elizabeth I, for holding an impromptu Council meeting for signing the papers, on the hunt from the Palace of Nonsuch.

The oldest private school in the country, the school Chime was founded in Whitehall in Cheam in 1645.

3. Of ownership. (Собственности)

It is believed that the house was the residence of the merchant, lawyer and philosopher James Boevey 1622-1696, from gr. 1670 until his death.

Between 1741 and 1963 Whitehall was the home of the Killick family, and in 1816 the birth of Captain James Killick, who became the captain of the tea clipper "Challenger" and founded the firm Killick Martin and company.

The house was bought by the district in 1963 and after restoration, it was opened to the public in a historic building in 1978, and the London borough of Sutton and the friends of Whitehall.

The Museum is closed in 2016 for £1.6 m renovation of the building. It was opened in June 2018 with upgraded amenities. Chancellor Jill Whitehead, Chairman of the Council Committee on environment and neighbourhood, said:" the redevelopment of the Museum Whitehall is of great importance for the region because it is one of our oldest and most historic buildings. When the redevelopment is completed in 2017, the Museum Whitehall is a historic center of our region, attracting more and more people to spend time and money and learn more about Our heritage”.
